What is Alap?
A dating app for adults in India who date outside the usual one-partner script: open relationships, poly, couples, solo, long-distance and people who are curious. You say how you do relationships up front, so everyone knows the deal.
Is Alap only for non-monogamous people?
It’s built for them. If you want strict one-to-one dating only, most people here won’t be what you’re looking for, and that’s fine. If you’re curious, choose “still figuring it out”.
Is it for straight, gay, bi and queer people?
Yes. Everyone 18 and over is welcome, whoever they are and whoever they love.
When can I use it?
We’re opening in stages. Join the early-access list and we’ll message you the day it opens for you.
Is there an app?
Yes. Alap is an Android app, and it will also work in your browser. Early-access members get the link first.
Verification & safety
Why do I need a selfie?
So everyone knows the person in the photos is the person they’re talking to. You take a selfie doing a gesture we choose, a moderator compares it with your photos, and then we delete it. Nobody else ever sees it.
How long does approval take?
A person checks every new profile, and we aim to do it within a day. You can finish setting up your profile while you wait.
Who can see my photos?
Others see a soft blur until you and they have both written to each other. Then your photos unblur for that one person only.
Can people from my office see me?
Not if you tell us where you work. Name your workplace, college or neighbourhood, and people from there won’t be shown your profile.
Are my messages private?
Your messages are only visible to you and the person you’re talking to, and stored on servers in India. They are not end-to-end encrypted: our safety team can read a conversation when it’s reported, which is how we can act on abuse.
What happens when I block someone?
You disappear from each other, and they’re never told. Blocking is always free.

Is Alap free?
You can use it free with 8 replies a day. Paid plans start at ₹99 for 7 days. See pricing.
Will I be charged every month?
No. Every plan is a one-off UPI payment and ends when its days are up. Nothing renews by itself.
How do I delete my account?
From the app’s settings, or from our delete account page, even if you no longer have the app.
Do you sell my data?
No. We don’t sell data, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers. We make money from plans and meetup tickets.
